Proskauer Rose
London·New York
Sports·Entertainment·Labor & employment
Proskauer represents the NBA, NHL, NFL, MLB and MLS, and has produced two league commissioners from its own ranks. If a major sports league needs a law firm, it's usually this one.
Why this firm
Effectively the house counsel of professional sport
Chambers USA 2026 ranks the firm Band 1 for Sports Law itself, one of only 12 Band 1 rankings out of 57 total practice areas
A genuinely elite private equity fund formation practice sits alongside the sports work: Band 1 in Chambers USA, Chambers Global and Legal 500 UK, meaning trainees get real career optionality beyond the firm's headline sports identity
Recently advised Mexican football club Chivas on its four-year media-rights deal with Amazon Prime Video, extending its sports work well beyond the major US leagues
What this firm looks for
Drawn from Proskauer Rose's own recruitment materials
Based on the firm's published recruitment materials, graduate recruitment commentary and stated values.
Genuine interest in niche practices
Proskauer's own London graduate recruitment page asks for a genuine interest in its practice areas specifically, notable because those practices are concentrated in sport, entertainment and labor & employment rather than a generalist corporate spread.
Client-facing warmth, not just smarts
An associate quoted on Chambers Associate says the value junior lawyers add is light and levity and a willingness to engage, a sense of humour and some worldliness with clients matter as much as early substantive knowledge.
Interviews probe beyond the CV
Screening interviews are described as designed to go beyond the resume to determine whether a candidate has characteristics and traits proven to succeed at the firm, rather than resting on academic credentials alone.
